Pickin' it Up!!

I am a picky garbage man. I think it's a good quality to have. Austin businesses have really taken to the recycling programs we set up. There has been so much positive feedback. Please check out the pics below for what we've been up to.

Austin Businesses implement recycling programs of their own!

Back alley of Lambert's Downtown. Special request for containers 30" wide to fit through narrow alleyway of historic building.
Done.
One enclosed container on wheels, sealed & insect proof for glass, plastic, metal. Cage-style container on wheels for cardboard to the left. Easily rolls out the alley to the trailer for eminent reincarnation.

Blanco City Commisioner recycles too - like... by the TON

Yesterday morning I met Paul Granberg, the Blanco City commisioner, who heard I was starting up Wandering River Recycling. Turns out Mr. Granberg is very passionate about recycling as well and runs the drop off and processing facility in Blanco. It's on a chunk of land on the south end of town and there is a state-of-the-art glass pulverizer on site. It will take all colors of glass and break it down into bits from about 3/8 of an inch to the size of a grain of sand. This material is proving to be very useful for building roads and bedding for pipes. So recycling glass is helping save money on materials to build and repair Blanco's infrastructure.
They also take paper and bail it up to send off to a processing facility that turns it into everything from newsprint to notepads. They also take aluminum cans and compact them down into 300 pound squares where they are reborn as cans for our favorite beverages.
I'll definitely be dropping off recycleables at the Blanco facility since its operation goes right back to the community.
I'm coming around for the first recycling pick up for Wimberley and Blanco on Saturday July 12th. If you'd like me to come pick yours up on the 12th and every other Saturday, just sign up at http://www.wanderingriverrecycling.com/ It's only $15 per month. See ya soon!

Blanco Lavender Festival recycles too!!

I'm pretty excited about starting Wandering River Recycling for Blanco and Wimberley, but I wasn't sure what people would think about it so I went out to Blanco's Lavender Festival to find out.
First of all, I can't believe how big this festival is now. I went last year and there must have been 3 times as many people this year despite the almost 100 degree teperature. There were tons of really cool harleys out on the road in town for the ROT Rally.
I was glad to see that the festival organizers had placed recycling bags right next to every trash can. I've helped organize several events and, man, we generate a lot of trash. I'd like to work with them next year and hopefully further reduce the amount of trash tossed.
I met a lot of really kind people at the Chamber of Commerce and several people running the booths there. I told them I was starting the recycling pick up service for homes and businesses and I got responses from "bless your heart" to "be still my heart", so I guess recycling has a place close to people's hearts and I'm glad to help. The festival was fun and I hope you made it out there.
If you live in a development or neighborhood, I'd be glad to pick up recycling for the whole street. Please tell your friends and neighbors. I'm starting service Saturday July 12th and will be around every other Saturday after that. The monthly cost is $15 and you don't even have to separate it.
Soon, as this service grows, I'll be able to provide bins and expand the things I can pick up. There are special permits required to pick up stuff beyond simple recycleables and i'll work on those soon.
You can sign up for pick up service at http://www.wanderingriverrecycling.com/ or give me a call at 512-788-2525

Finally affordable Recycling pick up service for Blanco & Wimberley

I wish I carried a notepad for all the random ideas that pop into my head each day. I'm sure everyone would be better off if they could too. My best friend Jake just bought a house in beautiful Wimberley Texas and after a day of swimming and trying to grab the ring at the Blue Hole we sat on his porch waving as all the neighbors drove by. He was telling me how there was no recycling pick up for the area and that really suprised me because people in Wimberley and Blanco seem to be pretty environmentally concious and connected to nature.
I decided on my way home that I was going to start a recycling pick up service for homes and businesses, events & weddings.
Every other Saturday starting July 12th I'll be coming through to pick up all paper (all types & cardboard), cans, glass (all colors), and plastic (all types). You can throw it in any ol' container and you don't even have to separate it.
It costs $15 a month and you can pay securely through my website by credit card, or I'm happy to pick up a check or cash. Please check out http://www.wanderingriverrecycling.com/ for details.
This is the first time I've started a business and I'm really excited, the feedback for this service has been very positive. My friends at Audion Media in Austin have been helping me get everything off the ground.
